Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Review

Dermatologica Daily Microfoliant Review

Having read lots of positive reviews of the brand, I was excited to try the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. It's not every day you find an exfoliator you like, let alone one that can be used daily!

The product claims to be a "gentle, daily exfoliating powder for all skin conditions. Unique rice-based powder formula activates upon contact with water, releasing papain, salicylic acid and rice enzymes that micro-exfoliate dead cells, instantly leaving skin smoother and brighter." To apply, I dispense a few shakes of powder into already-wet hands and create a creamy paste by rubbing my hands together. I massage my face in a circular motion for about a minute, rinsing thoroughly afterwards.

The grainy texture you get from combining the powder with water is very minimal, which may make you question its exfoliating capabilities. After use, however, my face definitely feels fresh, silky and hydrated – without any tightness or stickiness that mediocre exfoliators typically cause. I have been using the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant for a bit over a month now, and I am satisfied with the results. Not only is my skin silky smooth, but my pores seem to have shrunk in size – so much so that they no longer require weekly application of pore strips.

One disadvantage of the product is its powder form, which proves to be a bit troublesome when I'm holding the loose powder in one hand and trying to add a few drops of water with the other. Convenience of use was hardly a priority when the product was designed, it seems. To make matters worse, the rice-based powder comes with a chalky smell. I like to think of my skincare routine as a daily indulgence, and using unpleasant-smelling products takes away from that experience.

Another disadvantage is the $52 price tag. I must note, however, that one bottle lasts an exceptionally long time. So when you put the cost into perspective, it equates to only about $0.25 a day.

I'm curious to know whether you've tried this product, or any Dermalogica products, for that matter? Which exfoliating products are your favorite? Go on, now. Spill your beauty secrets in the comment section.
