Friday Favorites is a series where we share small, seemingly mundane moments from the past week – little details, often overlooked, that comprise this thing we call life.
As much as I hate to admit it, fall is quickly approaching – although if the weather outside is any indication, it won’t actually turn cool for another, oh, two-three months.
Around this time of year I tend to get a little bummed – what with the end of summertime and my quickly approaching birthday (and the reminder that I’m not getting any younger). I’m generally a very introspective person as it is, but that tendency is magnified tenfold with the change of the seasons.
This year is a bit of an exception, however. Sure, I may be evaluating the entire past year of my life as usual, but I’m feeling much more positive and upbeat these days, because we are looking forward to lots of exciting changes happening around here in the near future.
For example, we are THIS CLOSE to moving into our new house. No, it isn’t exactly finished, but it’s at a livable state, so the days of paying rent on top of a mortgage on top of funding a full-house renovation are nearly over.
We’re fortunate, though, to have the opportunity to work with so many amazing brands on some of our house renovations. I don’t say this often enough, but thank you so very much to all who continue reading, commenting on, and following FOXYOXIE.com! It’s because of readers like you that brand collaborations are possible for us in the first place.
By the way, since we’re on the topic already, if you ever have any questions or concerns about brand collaborations or various projects I work on, or you are simply curious about how it all works, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’m an open book, so as long as it’s asked in a courteous manner, I’m happy to answer any question.
Speaking of projects, last weekend we partnered with Wayfair to tile our kitchen backsplash, with the full tutorial coming to the Wayfair blog very soon. We also finally got our replacement kitchen sink installed (if you follow me on Snapchat, you may have seen that the countertop installers broke the original sink, among a plethora of other mess-ups, so we’ve had to delay a few projects as a result). This weekend we’re hoping to get some painting done, so wish us luck!
On another positive note, we have a vacation planned for mid-September – another major event to anticipate. Our last vacation was a 10-day roadtrip up the coast of California for our wedding anniversary, and although it took place back in November, it feels like years have passed since then. The past 13 months have been exhausting, as I’m sure you can imagine, and I am so incredibly excited about a week of frolicking in Hawaii. Speaking of which, have any of you ever been? We would love your recommendations!
Lastly, as much as I would love to invite all of you to our house warming party – that, of course, is not feasible. Instead, I’m considering organizing a “Facebook Live” tour of our bungalow, and I wanted to gauge your interest. If it took place around noon on a Saturday, would you be interested in tuning in for the grand reveal?
If you’re not familiar with how “Facebook Live” works, basically it would be a live video broadcast where you’d be able to tour our new home, ask questions and receive answers in real time. The video would then be available online for some time, before it disappeared forever. I do share lots of videos on Snapchat, but some of you have expressed concern that not everyone has Snapchat, so I would love to hear your thoughts on the “Facebook Live” idea.
