Friday Favorites is a series where we share small, seemingly mundane moments from the past week – little details, often overlooked, that comprise this thing we call life.
What a couple of weeks we’ve had, am I right?
I don’t know about you, but I feel like I may die a slow death of despair if I have to so much as look at another carefully curated holiday gift guide of useless things that I “must” buy for my husband/mother/nonexistent cat.
Can you relate? It’s all too much, too fast.
I don’t know if it’s the Black Friday/Cyber Monday craze (I didn’t even participate!), or some sort of post-Thanksgiving food coma, or the fact that I’ve spent the last week in bed with what is likely the flu – but I am exhausted, y’all.
When I ask myself: What are you excited about? What do you look forward to? What’s giving your life purpose right now? The only fitting answer is sleep – I literally want nothing more than to curl up in our bed and hibernate until spring.
But how about for some positive news, eh?
We finally bought a Christmas tree! Granted, it’s been standing naked in the living room for nearly a week because I can’t muster up enough energy to decorate it, but IT WILL HAPPEN! It has to happen, in fact, because next week I’m joining a few blogger friends in a Christmas home tour, where each day we’ll be unveiling a tour of our decorated home.
I’ll be sharing sneak peeks (the fireplace mantle is almost done!) on Insta stories and Snapchat (username: foxyoxie), so come hang out! And be sure to tune in to FOXYOXIE.com next Thursday for the 2016 winter home tour!
How many of you have started decorating for Christmas? I’m not big on seasonal decor, to be honest, but Christmas is the husband’s favorite holiday. We have an entire ritual of bringing home the tree, complete with Christmas music and hot beverages, so of course I try to make an effort when it comes to decorating the house.
Speaking of Christmas rituals, who is finished with holiday shopping?
The husband and I do not “do presents” in the traditional sense of the word – not for Christmas, or birthdays, or even wedding anniversaries. And although I’ll be happy to explain our logic in a different medium (maybe a face to face conversation?), today I wanted to bring your attention to something else. If you’re still looking for gifts, you MUST check out Danyelle Woods Designs on Etsy.
Danyelle is a Chattanooga-native (and also a FOXY OXIE reader!), but more importantly, the girl is mad talented. I am obsessed with her “Stronger Than You Know” watercolor print (seen above), and would literally live in any of her oh-so-comfy graphic tees. When I come across a local talent like Danyelle, I can’t help but rave about it (plus, it doesn’t hurt that she’s incredible sweet in real life!). All that to say, show Danyelle Woods Designs some love by checking out her Etsy shop and following her on Instagram for first-hand updates, behind the scenes progress and lots of special offers!
Keeping with the local theme, if you’re in the Cleveland/Chattanooga area I would like to officially invite you to “Fearless in Faith: Worship Night” tomorrow night from 6:30 to 11PM at 4165 Peerless Rd NW, Cleveland, Tennessee 37312. Hosted by our church (Living Stones Community Church), it’ll an evening of worship, fellowship and (delicious!) food – and I would love to see you there! You can find out more (and see a preview video!) on our Facebook event.
Other fun discoveries this week: While feeling under the weather, about the only thing I could muster up energy for is to lay on the sofa and watch TV – lots of TV. After hearing so many rave reviews about “This Is Us,” I decided to check out the show – and oh my goodness! I have watched all nine episodes on Hulu and cannot believe we’re almost at the mid-season finale! I don’t know how I’ll cope if this show ever ends. The perfect mix of raw emotion and sarcastic humor, every episode sends me on a roller coaster of emotions.
So, tell me about your week! What are you doing, searching for, thinking about, and obsessing over these days? Please share in the comments section, below.
Hope you all have a great weekend, and if you’re local – I hope to see you tomorrow!
