Friday Favorites is a series where we share small, seemingly mundane moments from the past week – little details, often overlooked, that comprise this thing we call life.
Is it me, or is time flying by at astronomical speeds – faster, it seems, than ever before?
Like, did you realize it’s almost March?!
In just 1.5 weeks we get to find out the gender of our little one – and we’re so incredibly excited, I can barely stand it!
We’re still debating whether we want to host a gender reveal party or not, and I can’t seem to make up my mind. Mamas, will you help me weigh the pros and cons?
On the one hand, I’m quite the sentimental person, so finding out the gender of our first-born alongside family and closest friends would be such a special, once-in-a-lifetime experience. I realize that the likelihood of us hosting gender reveal parties for any future children that God gives us are quite slim – I hear it gets harder and harder to find the time with each child.
On the other hand, I’ve been feeling so incredibly tired… I remember hosting the husband’s birthday party last month… As much as I adore hosting, I needed a week afterwards to recuperate from all the cleaning and cooking.
But I have slightly more energy these days than I did last month… So maybe it’s worth it to put my round ligament pains aside for one weekend?
Someone talk some sense into me…
Other fun news this week: We’re planning a babymoon! It’s like a honeymoon – relaxing and romantic – but taken by parents-to-be before their little one is born.
We debated between Hawaii, New York and Florida. Even though the first two destinations have been on our travel list for a long, long time, we ruled them out because I don’t think I’ll be able to experience either to the fullest extent with a biggo bump to tout everywhere. Hawaii is known for its nature – hikes, mountains, volcanoes – and I just can’t imagine having enough energy to explore all that while pregnant. Similarly, the busyness of New York – the very energy that attracts visitors to the city in the first place – seems quite daunting to take on while pregnant. And Florida, well, we’ve been there far too many times to be too excited about it, so instead, we’re going on a cruise!
Check out “5 Reasons to Book a Cruise for Your Next Vacation” for my thoughts on cruises.
Of course, being the last-minute planners that we are, we’ve yet to pick which one. Currently, it’s a toss-up between the Celebrity “Silhouette” (with stops at Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. Maarten), the Princess “Regal Princess” (with stops at Dominican Republic, St. Thomas and St. Maarten), and the Princess “Caribbean Princess” (with stops at Curacao, Aruba and Bonaire).
Which would you choose?
In regards to the renovation, I shared a small entryway update earlier this week. Other than that, progress has been slow. You can read all about the projects we have planned in “Remodeling & Renovation Projects We Have Planned for 2017,” as well as the last Friday Favorites post. I have a master bedroom update planned for next week, so be on the lookout for that. You can catch a little hint of what it is in last Friday’s post!
