Obviously I'm totally biased, but you are about to witness the sweetest nursery reveal – like, ever.
I love this room so very much. Some evenings I'll sneak away from the hustle and bustle of daily life to just sit here quietly and take it all in. I imagine the teeny baby inside my belly – what will she look like? – and how very soon she'll make her grand debut into this great, big world.
I can't help but get a little emotional.
(Okay, a lot – so much so, in fact, that I'm afraid the husband may soon forbid me from entering this room altogether until the baby arrives, ha!)
After six weeks of planning, brainstorming, problem solving, sourcing, assembling, styling and shooting, I am thrilled to finally share this space with you. I had never designed a nursery before, so this One Room Challenge was all sorts of sentimental.

One evening last week, as we were putting a few finishing touches on the room, the husband and I began reminiscing about our own respective childhoods.
"Can you imagine our own parents putting in this much time and effort – not to mention resources – into a room for a baby?" I asked. "Back then, you got a crib and some swaddle blankets to your name, and you were set!"
Growing up in Ukraine, it's not that my parents didn't believe in providing the best for their children. They simply didn't have the means for such unnecessary extravagance. In that time and setting, the very idea of a nursery was nonexistent. You simply didn't dedicate an entire room to a teeny baby, let alone decorate it for the sake of decorating.
So when I first began designing this space, I was hyper sensitive to the fact that much of what we consider the norm in preparing for baby's arrival is not really necessary. Furthermore, I didn't want to spend thousands of dollars on a baby's room – only to re-do everything a few years later, when she's older.
I'm especially excited that the end results are a good mix of already owned pieces and a couple newly purchased items that can easily transition through the years. Of course, I also got the opportunity to work with some incredible sponsors, who so very generously donated products and helped bring our vision for the room to life.
Let's take a look, shall we?
What I love most about the Jenny Lind crib (besides how stylish and budget-friendly it is!) is that it can easily be converted into a toddler bed later on. The matching dresser, too, is quite versatile. The changing tray on top can easily be removed to function as a stunning chest of drawers.
I had the most difficult time choosing a glider for the space – and so I didn't!
Instead, we moved one of the chrome barrel chairs from our living room into the nursery on a trial basis. It's so cozy, especially with the faux fur throw – I may leave it in here for good and forget the glider altogether.
I added a gray, knit ottoman to prop my feet on. Not only is it super comfortable, but much like the faux fur throw, it adds interesting texture to the room.
The grand debate of leaving the closet doors versus removing them for the time being was quickly settled once we brought in the chair. There's simply no way we would've had enough room for the French closet doors to swing open.
Sure, we could've replaced the closet doors with a bi-fold alternative, but that's just unnecessary spending.
Speaking of closet doors, one of my very favorite features of the room is the built-in nursery closet. It was gifted to us by the good folks at ClosetMaid.
Each time I step into the room, my eyes are immediately drawn to its organized and perfectly styled shelves. They send my OCD-ladden heart aflutter every time. I'm fully aware that once baby girl grows up, the likelihood of everything staying organized is very, very slim. But by that time there will be no need for the barrel chair in the room, so we can easily re-install the French doors to hide the messes.
Or maybe she'll take after me and have intense perfectionist tendencies that will translate into a neat closet, ha! Not sure whether I can truly wish that on anyone, though, especially on my own child...
The nursery is teeny-tiny – 8x10.5 feet, to be exact – and with the top of the dresser just big enough to fit a changing tray and a few diapering essentials, we had to get creative in terms of storing necessities and displaying decorative items.
The mirrored cake stand used as display is one prime example. Granted, I haven't had my baby shower just yet, so we didn't have many toys and such to display – but even with the few items, it's a sweet little addition to the room.
The glass orb floor lamp was another great solution to the lack of dresser space. Tucked away neatly into a corner, it offers an alternative source of light during those middle-of-the-night feedings.
The copper shelves provide additional storage. They were a last-minute find at Minted.com while I was searching for artwork. For now, they house a few personal and decorative items but can also function as bookshelves.
When I first shared a preview of the shelves on Instagram, I was surprised by just how many of you zeroed in on the "M" initial.
It's no secret that we've been quite indecisive in choosing a name. As exciting as it is to be one step closer to finally doing so, I can't say we're there just yet. "M" is just one of the top three names we have in mind. But if you have any suggestions for soft, feminine girl names with a Slavic root – I'm all ears!
Another one of my favorite items on the shelves has got to be the Russian alphabet print. I'm excited to announce that it will soon be available in my Etsy shop. It's such a simple but cute way to add a personal touch to a baby's room.
Speaking of artwork, just on the other side of the crib hang two gorgeous photos of my beloved Paris. Not only do they seamlessly fit in with the color palette of the room, but they bring up all sorts of sweet emotions from when the husband and I spent 10 dreamy days in the City of Lights.
Coincidentally, the top piece is titled "Days in Paris," and the one on the bottom is "French Dreams."
It wouldn't be a baby's room without a few whimsical and playful touches, right?
Lots of you asked about the tulle pom pom garland. I'll be sharing a DIY tutorial very soon for those interested in recreating the piece.
One of my favorite whimsical pieces is the baby mobile.
I mentioned last week that I got the incredible opportunity to work with Sproutling + Co. on a custom mobile for our little girl. The possibilities are truly endless on this one. Not only can you choose colors to match the nursery, but you can completely customize the entire design by choosing a custom frame color and adding wood beads. Nicole, the talent behind Sproutling + Co., makes these lovely creations by hand – and she’s a total gem to work with.
Thanks to so many of you for chiming in with your personal experience on last week's post. As a result of your recommendations, we hung the baby mobile over the dresser rather than the crib.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, concludes our tour.
My next project will be to register for a hospital tour and figure out what in the world to pack in a hospital bag... Any tips?
A Note of Gratitude
Huge thanks to Linda from Calling It Home and House Beautiful Magazine for hosting the One Room Challenge.

About the One Room Challenge
The One Room Challenge (ORC) is a wildly anticipated design event hosted by Calling It Home in partnership with House Beautiful.
Twice a year, 20 featured bloggers along with hundreds of guest participants are challenged to transform any room they so choose, but they must complete the entire project in six weeks.
This is mind blowing. Thanks for sharing, this was really helpful for me!
Hi, I would like to order this rug, but the Wayfair link just takes you to general rugs. Also is it soft? Thanks!
Hi Brittany! It looks like that rug is sold out on Wayfair – it’s been about 5 years since I first bought it. Wayfair has a couple other color options (here), but it seems like the only sizes left are really, really small – basically the size of a bath mat. You can sign up to be notified when they’re back in stock, though! I’m showing May 7 as the restocking date.
As for softness, the black pattern has almost a velvet-like feel and is slightly raised, giving the rug a super textured look and feel. It’s softer than the average rug but not as soft as one of those ultra plush rugs. Hope that helps!
Love it so much! But how did you order the wallpaper to look like that? I looked at the same one on the same site and it’s way smaller and wayyy too busy for me compared to how yours looks.
I’m in love with this nursery!!! What color gray did you use for the walls? Also, what size rug did you go with? I’m contemplating what size.
Thank you!!!
Oksana, My daughter is absolutely in love with the nursery wallpaper and she’s almost twelve. We recently moved away from family and friends and I wanted to surprise her with it. However, I attempted to follow the “Wall Need Love” link to view and purhase the “Clara” mural, but the pictures are extremly different from what you have done to Mila’s wall. Mila’s wall is definitely on a larger scale and the flowers are so much bigger than what the website is showing. I was hoping you could explain what I needed to do or what size I needed to order so I could achieve the same dramatic effect of her wall? I look forward to hearing back from you and keep blowing those raspberries on those adorable little feet…she is precious!!
I was just wondering the same thing!! Looking forward to hearing what she says. :)
Hi Deb! I’ve updated the link – it looks like one of them linked out to the “Clara” wallpaper instead of the mural. So sorry about that! You can shop the mural here: http://bit.ly/2zYZqMY. Please let me know if I can answer any more questions! XO
Colleen, I am so sorry for the delay in answering your question! It seems one of the links linked out to the wallpaper instead of the mural. I’ve updated it now – thanks for the heads up! You can view the “Clara” mural here: http://bit.ly/2zYZqMY. Let me know if I can help with anything else. Your daughter will love, love, love the surprise. It makes the entire room feel like a little fairytale.
Hi, I clicked the link to your curtains but it just goes to the general wayfair curtain site and I’m not sure which one they are?
Hi Irma! Thanks for bringing that to my attention. It seems that Wayfair renamed the product under a different name. Retailers do this occasionally – why, I will never understand. Anyway, you can find the curtains here: http://bit.ly/2ivxFon. Thank you so much for reading!

Aaawwwe… You got Cheburashka! :)
The room is so beautiful! I am so excited for you!
Thanks so much, Nat! There’s actually a pretty sweet story behind the Cheburashka – when my (now) husband and I were still dating, he went on a trip to Russia and brought me back the Cheburashka. :)
That is so sweet! I loved the movie when I was a kid :)
This is such a stunning nursery! Just wow!!! My favourite parts are the wallpaper (swoon!) and the little cake tray. What a cute touch!! The ceiling light is also amazing – as is the whole room. How about Mila or Fanya for a name?
I love your sweet little nursery! We did our Kitchen for the ORC but are working on the nursery now! We are also having a little girl! Just beautiful :)
So beautiful! What color of the curtains did you order? Is it the peachy-pink?
Yes, I believe it was called “Indie Pink” but the color is definitely peachy. Love them!
What is the paint color?
Paint color is 0530 called “Metro” by Farrel Calhoun.
OK, I love this wallpaper! So cute, and I love how it ties the whole room together. x
This is totally beyond amazing.
