Anyone else rearrange their entire house to avoid something? No? Just me?

My littlest baby turns 2 today – and I am not okay. 😭

Was going to wait until Monday but I have no patience... 😆 Today on the blog I'm sharing a massive list of 20 (!!!) home improvement projects we have planned for 2021. Just typing that out makes me laugh and laugh and laugh like a mad woman considering the fact that it's already February and I'm just now getting around to sharing the list. 😅 If that's not enticing enough for you to click the link in my bio then you'll want to see number 20... it's a not-so-little surprise! ☺️ Link in bio!

It'd be nice to start a project and, you know, act

It'd be nice to start a project and, you know, actually finish it. 😅 But for now you can find me chipping away at one corner at a time one nap at a time...before being summoned for water/cuddles/yet another snack.

(SO. MANY. SNACKS.)

Take the living room for example. I want to paint the fireplace tile...DIY a giant 3-D abstract painting behind that sofa...find something to replace the mirror on the mantle...finally hang the chandelier...hang curtains... Oh and don't forget the new rug since I moved the cowhide to the office.

I guess what I'm trying to say is tune in next year to see it all come together 😅 because Lord knows at this pace it'll be a while.

P.S. If you zoom in you can see the floor is covered with styrofoam. Because toddlers + shipping boxes = fun time for all. 😜

Couple things I realized during this styling exercise:

1) Maaaaybe I should've stuck with categories... 😅 I am far too OCD to ever feel satisfied with how it looks.

2) Really liking the organic shape of the cowhide in here...probably gonna leave it. Now to find something for the living room...

3) I have far too many tchotchkes. Where am I supposed to fit all my boxes of samples and crafting supplies?! 😅 I'm thinking Instagram sale – see anything you like?

Kicking off 2021 with a new post on the blog – and crossing my fingers for more consistent blogging this year. 🤞🏼Today's article is all about installing penny tile. I'm sharing all the tips and tricks I've learned along the way of my exciting side career as a tile master – ha!

On a side note, @em_henderson recently questioned whether penny tile goes in a kitchen – especially as the backsplash – and I'd like to think our Edgmon Ranch flip is reason enough to say yes! ☺️ The tone-on-tone look adds so much subtle texture to a space without overwhelming it. And if you're worried about spills – there's always the option to seal the grout!

I feel "behind" on Instagram life – if that's ev

I feel "behind" on Instagram life – if that's even a real thing. (It isn't.) But I haven't had the mental bandwidth to put life into words lately. It's all just too much sometimes. But I'll tell you this: I've never been more grateful for house projects as I have these last couple of weeks. Nothing like a looming deadline to distract my anxious mind. That – and a good before and after to remind me just how far I've come and what I'm capable of. But really I just wanted to share with you this reminder: "It is not joy that makes us grateful. It is gratitude that makes us joyful." Today I am grateful for answered prayers...a healthy family...unwavering love from above...house projects...opportunities to do what I enjoy and be paid for it...and grace — lots and lots of mercy and grace. ✨ What are you especially grateful for today? Even if you don't share your list with me I hope you take the time to think about it. 🖤

How it's going vs. how it started... 🙌🏼 Tomorrow we grout and patch walls and then next week we paint and bring in all the pretty stuff!

Say what you will about labor-intensive projects like this but there is something so immensely satisfying about being able to do it with your own hands. Would you ever want to learn how to install your own tile? I have tutorials on the blog for everything from showers to floors to backsplashes!

Oh and LOL at the 25 percent of you who disliked this tile...! 😆 Personally I'm obsessed. 🖤
