Hi Jennifer! If I recall correctly (it’s been several years since I wrote this post), this was just an inexpensive, thin, nylon rope I picked up at Home Depot. I remember I was there for another reason and thought that instead of going to Hobby Lobby or Michael’s, I’d check if Home Depot had something that could work. It definitely wasn’t anything specifically made for macrame. There are all sorts of thickness available, but unfortunately I don’t remember how many mm this one was… You can check the Home Depot site to see what’s available at your local store.

Hi Kathryn! I don’t see why it wouldn’t work…you could also try with a thicker cord for some extra support on the bottom of the pot.

Nope, my instructions are correct. As the supply list specifies, you need a total of 6 chords – 3 long ones and 3 short ones. In the very beginning it says to fold these 6 cords in half so that you are actually working with 12 cords. Each of the 3 braids consists of 4 cords – 2 long ones and 2 short ones. And 3 x 4 = 12.
