High Quality, Luxury Linens That Are Actually Affordable

I do not exaggerate when I tell you that I’ve spent a solid six months (if not more!) looking for the right linens – bedding, curtains, etc. – to complete several rooms in our home.

Six months, I tell you! Ridiculous!

If the shouting and excessive exclamation points above aren’t enough of an indication, the process has been frustrating.

When choosing bed sheets, comforters, duvets and such, I obviously want high quality that’ll last a while. Who doesn’t? But with that high quality comes a hefty price tag. That’s one of the reasons I could not allow myself to pull the trigger on $150 sheets and a $300 duvet. Another reason is that I haven’t found any designs I’ve really, really liked. (Because, let’s face it, if I’m going to pay half a grand for a bedding set, I better be head-over-heels, can’t-live-without-it in love.)

Curtains are yet another item from the linens category that I’ve struggled to source for our home. While the need for exceptional quality isn’t as strong on this one – hey, I’m not putting curtains on my body every night like I do bedding, you know? – I still want something nice that will drape well, look beautiful and not cost a fortune.

Apparently that’s too much to ask for, because, as I already said, I’ve spent far too long looking for these items with zero results. Then, out of the blue, the retailer Tuesday Morning reached out to see if I was interested in a linens-focused shopping challenge.

“Um, hello?!” I wanted to ask. “Are you living inside my head?”

Instead, I just said, “Bring it on!” Then, armed with a $150 gift card, I ventured into our local Tuesday Morning to see how many items I could cross off from my “Must Buy” list.

Long story short, today I’m sharing how far that $150 gift card got me. You will be amazed at just how much I was able to buy! In fact, I’m willing to bet that you’ll be searching for the nearest Tuesday Morning location before you’re even done reading this post. Just wait and see!

First on my list is curtains for the French doors in our dining room.

Why would you want to cover those beautiful doors and all that natural light, you ask? Well, for starters, privacy: Our house is very close to a very busy road. But more than that, our dining room desperately needed some visual interest and texture.

The challenge here was that I needed extra wide panels, and the selection across the entire curtain industry is, unfortunately, very, very limited. I opted for two sets of two panels instead for maximum volume and to cover the entire space when the curtains are closed.

At first I tried a silk, bright white option but ended up returning them, because they were too formal for the space. These soft white, faux-linen panels, however, were just perfect. The embroidered print is subtle enough to satisfy my minimalistic side, but textured enough to add interest, too. At only $29.99 per pair, I bought a total of four panels, which covers a space 220 inches wide. If you’ve ever searched for curtains, you know that’s a ridiculously good deal. Other retailers offer just one panel at similar prices, usually of the lowest quality, too – but not Tuesday Morning! Even better is that Tuesday Morning sells 95- and 96-inch options – because a ridiculous amount of retailers don’t!

Next on the list: a white, down-alternative duvet for our master bedroom. Yes, I’ve been on a kick to add more color to our home decor. But a white duvet is an absolute must-have. When I’m tired of looking at our emerald coverlet, it’s nice to have the option of a more classic, refreshing duvet that’s easier on the eyes. Because, let’s be honest, as a recovering colorphobe, I’m bound to revert to my old ways.

Back to my amazing find, this duvet is luxury hotel-quality with 400 thread count and was only $59.99! With a 3-month baby who’s recently taken to feeding every two hours at night, this sleep-deprived mama will take any hint of luxury that she can get!

Let’s recap. We are now up to $120, with $30 more left to spend.

I then remembered also needing curtains for the guest bedroom, so back to the curtain aisle I went. Our guest bedroom has lower ceilings than the master suite, so I needed 84″ panels. Tuesday Morning had a huge selection of these, and I finally settled on a light gray, softly patterned panels that were only $19.99 for the pair. Again, I opted for two pairs because I love the look of fuller drapes.

So, to sum up, a little more than $150 can get you the following items at Tuesday Morning:

  • A luxury, hotel-style white duvet ($59.99)
  • Four 96″ curtain panels ($29.99 per pair)
  • Four 84″ curtain panels ($19.99 per pair)

Is that a good deal, or what? Have you ever shopped at Tuesday Morning?
