Typically, by this point in the challenge I am curled up in the fetal position from anxiety over everything that has yet to be finished (or, let’s be honest, started). However, this week we received notification that the ORC has been extended by an additional week, so let’s all breathe a collective sigh of relief.
Mark your calendars for November 16 if you want to see the final reveal of this train wreck. In the meantime, I’m sharing the (very!) few projects I actually crossed off my massive to-do list. This week I tackled the gallery wall in the entryway.
The entire project cost me less than $35 – and that includes frames, picture mats and photos.
My secret? Dollar Tree!
I searched high and low for affordable gold frames, and the closest thing I could find was these brass babies at Target. But at $19.99 per frame, I was looking at $200 – NOT an ideal scenario when I’m working on finishing 10 different rooms. I considered buying white frames and going the spray-painting route. Then, I had the brilliant idea to check the Dollar Tree; talk about a lucky find!
I had the photos developed at Walgreens – use the code “COOLPIC” for a 40% discount.
Wanting to add a touch of class to the whole ensemble, I ordered a pack of white picture mats from Amazon. Voila – the chicest of photo gallery walls for less than $35! I’ve yet to hang the frames on the wall, though, but one baby step at a time, right? Check out last week’s ORC post for a mockup of the finished space.
Other fun developments this week: Items have begun arriving, and if you follow @FOXYOXIE on Instagram, you’ve already seen many of them in my stories. We have curtains for the dining room, a new headboard for the guest bedroom and a newly painted credenza and chest of drawers, which I can’t wait to share with you oh-so-soon. I never thought I would say this, but I am obsessed with their new color – and I think you will be too!
Don’t Want to Miss the Next Update?
I’m sharing our ORC progress every Thursday, and I hope you’ll tune in to see it unfold. You can also sign up for the FOXY OXIE newsletter or follow on Instagram Stories, where I’m sharing lots of behind-the-scenes, like this week’s accent wall.
On a somewhat related note, don’t you love Instagram’s new poll feature? So many of you said I was crazy for attempting this project – what do you think now? Is this something you’d take on?
