It'd be nice to start a project and, you know, act It'd be nice to start a project and, you know, actually finish it. ๐Ÿ˜… But for now you can find me chipping away at one corner at a time one nap at a time...before being summoned for water/cuddles/yet another snack.
(SO. MANY. SNACKS.)
Take the living room for example. I want to paint the fireplace tile...DIY a giant 3-D abstract painting behind that sofa...find something to replace the mirror on the mantle...finally hang the chandelier...hang curtains... Oh and don't forget the new rug since I moved the cowhide to the office.
I guess what I'm trying to say is tune in next year to see it all come together ๐Ÿ˜… because Lord knows at this pace it'll be a while.
P.S. If you zoom in you can see the floor is covered with styrofoam. Because toddlers + shipping boxes = fun time for all. ๐Ÿ˜œ
Couple things I realized during this styling exerc Couple things I realized during this styling exercise:
1) Maaaaybe I should've stuck with categories... ๐Ÿ˜… I am far too OCD to ever feel satisfied with how it looks.
2) Really liking the organic shape of the cowhide in here...probably gonna leave it. Now to find something for the living room...
3) I have far too many tchotchkes. Where am I supposed to fit all my boxes of samples and crafting supplies?! ๐Ÿ˜… I'm thinking Instagram sale โ€“ see anything you like?
Show me how you style open shelving and I'll share my favorites in stories! ๐Ÿ–ค
This design plan for the kids bathroom renovation This design plan for the kids bathroom renovation has been a long time coming... I'm finally sharing it on the blog! Read about why I chose the finishes that I did..(especially that tile - ha!) where and how we were able to save $$$...and the one element I'm still uncertain about (even though it may be too late to return what I already bought)! Plus there are 3-D mockups โ€“ everyone's favorite! ๐Ÿ–ค
Let's talk money โ€“ or more specifically bathroom Let's talk money โ€“ or more specifically bathroom remodeling costs. ๐Ÿ˜œ Take a guess how much this project cost and then head to the blog to see the detailed cost breakdown! I'm also sharing aaaaall my sources. I hope the post is helpful and educational if you're planning a renovation of a similar scale!
Kicking off 2021 with a new post on the blog โ€“ a Kicking off 2021 with a new post on the blog โ€“ and crossing my fingers for more consistent blogging this year. ๐Ÿคž๐ŸผToday's article is all about installing penny tile. I'm sharing all the tips and tricks I've learned along the way of my exciting side career as a tile master โ€“ ha!
On a side note, @em_henderson recently questioned whether penny tile goes in a kitchen โ€“ especially as the backsplash โ€“ and I'd like to think our Edgmon Ranch flip is reason enough to say yes! โ˜บ๏ธ The tone-on-tone look adds so much subtle texture to a space without overwhelming it. And if you're worried about spills โ€“ there's always the option to seal the grout!
What do you think?
I feel "behind" on Instagram life โ€“ if that's ev I feel "behind" on Instagram life โ€“ if that's even a real thing. (It isn't.) But I haven't had the mental bandwidth to put life into words lately. It's all just too much sometimes. But I'll tell you this: I've never been more grateful for house projects as I have these last couple of weeks. Nothing like a looming deadline to distract my anxious mind. That โ€“ and a good before and after to remind me just how far I've come and what I'm capable of. But really I just wanted to share with you this reminder: "It is not joy that makes us grateful. It is gratitude that makes us joyful." Today I am grateful for answered prayers...a healthy family...unwavering love from above...house projects...opportunities to do what I enjoy and be paid for it...and grace โ€” lots and lots of mercy and grace. โœจ What are you especially grateful for today? Even if you don't share your list with me I hope you take the time to think about it. ๐Ÿ–ค
How it's going vs. how it started... ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ Tomo How it's going vs. how it started... ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ Tomorrow we grout and patch walls and then next week we paint and bring in all the pretty stuff!
Say what you will about labor-intensive projects like this but there is something so immensely satisfying about being able to do it with your own hands. Would you ever want to learn how to install your own tile? I have tutorials on the blog for everything from showers to floors to backsplashes!
Oh and LOL at the 25 percent of you who disliked this tile...! ๐Ÿ˜† Personally I'm obsessed. ๐Ÿ–ค
Nothing is where it's supposed to be and I've been Nothing is where it's supposed to be and I've been playing musical chairs with everything from rugs to mirrors and so forth and I will probably paint that fireplace tile black and don't even get me started on the utter chaos right outside this shot. But these days I often think of @chrislovesjulia's mantra "Don't wait!" Don't wait until something is perfect to enjoy it. Oh goodness how that applies to this phase of our life... ๐Ÿ–ค
Celebrating every step of progress โ€“ no matter h Celebrating every step of progress โ€“ no matter how small! This room will eventually be an office โ€“ imagine dark charcoal built-ins with some brass statement lighting and maybe even a burl wood desk! But for now it's a makeshift dining room and I couldn't be more happy. Who wants to come over for our first dinner party? ๐Ÿ–ค In other news...really wishing I had painted the French doors black right about now. What do you think? P.S. Check my stories for the before!
I don't think I've ever been as excited about a ba I don't think I've ever been as excited about a bathroom as I am about this powder room at our Greenfield Remodel. I've partnered with @wayfair to share my design plans on the blog โ€“ plus a sneak peek of the progress! Check it out and let me know if I've convinced you on the dark paint! ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค Link in bio.
