Is it too early to be picking out couches?
We have yet to finish renovating, let alone move into, our bungalow, but I am already picking out the decor – mainly because I’m the most indecisive person and know full-well that it takes me several months to make a single design decision of that magnitude.
Speaking of magnitude, if you read “under $1000” and nearly fell out of your chair, I’m right there with you.
Furniture ain’t cheap.
No, scratch that. Decent furniture – one that will last beyond two, three years – ain’t cheap.
Sure, we could go the route of IKEA like we did when we first got married, scoring a microsuede sofa and loveseat set for a whopping $600, but let’s be honest: Even my mother, who is as anti-materialistic as they come, was shocked that I was toying with the idea of keeping the old, slightly deformed couches that had long outlived their time.
In case you didn’t hear, tufted sofas are heaving a moment right now. From tuxedo to mid-century to modern to knole, I’ve rounded up 10 of my favorites.
Note that many of the prices below are promotional (that 30% off sale at West Elm is not to be missed!), so I cannot guarantee how long they’ll last. In fact, a few of these already increased from the time I designed this graphic, so if you see something you like, act fast!

Have you ever purchased a sofa online? What style do you lean more towards? Which of these was your favorite?
More importantly, how amazing is that GIF that I made all by myself?! Feeling pretty accomplished over here, let me tell you…
Wow. I was going to tell you which ones were my favorite, but I love all of them!! Great choices.

I am very lucky that I won a Laz Boy couch from the Ellen show. However, I know it won’t last forever so one day I’ll have to buy one. It’s great to know that they are such lovely couches for under $1,000
Love these picks! I think the Peggy is my favorite. There’s something about trying out a couch in person though; we thought we found one we loved online at Crate + Barrel and when we tried it in store it was so uncomfortable!
I love decorating! I’m so jealous you get pick out new pieces for your new place. You have so many amazing choices, but I think #6 is my favorite!

I think if we were only buying furniture for one room, I would enjoy the process much more. But as it is, we’ve gutted and renovated the entire home, so choosing big items has been giving me major decision anxiety.
Furniture is SO expensive, I had no idea until I tried to shop at places other than IKEA. These couches are super cute, I love number 2!
Yes, a lot of people are surprised that you don’t have to go to IKEA to score a sofa for under $1000! Number 2 is one of the more mid-century options, and it’s part of West Elm’s major sofa sale going on now, so better grab it quick! :)
This post makes me want a new couch! This could be very dangerous for me!

Right?! I’m already dreaming about where else I can add a couch, other than the living room… Maybe the study/office area?
I like # 3 # 5 # 8
Those are my favorites too! I think number 10 is also fun, but maybe for a study/office – not the main living room.
I love all of your picks! I especially love no. 8 with the gold beading details. Picking out couches can be so much fun!
Happy Thursday!

Number 8 is definitely one of my favorites! I just don’t know how I feel about leather… Feels a bit too formal, I think, to have a tufted leather sofa.
I’m so impressed you found so many options under 1000 dollars! We usually buy our couches second hand from craigslist and have found some amazing steals there, but hopefully after we buy our first house, we can buy brand new furniture!
I love Craigslist and have scored some amazing finds there, but it’s a bit more difficult when you’re looking for a particular piece.
You certainly found some wonderful options! Shopping for a couch is difficult – I went through that earlier this year. XOXO
Where’d you end up getting yours from?
