Two out of three bathrooms at our house are currently mid-reno, so it’s no surprise that bathroom remodels are occupying my mind these days. It’s a welcome distraction, let me tell you.
I’m always fascinated to read how much other people spend on bathroom remodels – are you? I sure hope so, because that’s what today’s post is all about!
By the way, thank you so much for all your kind feedback on our master bathroom reveal tour at the Edgmon Ranch back in June. (Has it really been that long?!) In case you’re new around here, we sold that property back in the summer and almost immediately purchased our next venture: The Greenfield Remodel.
The master bathroom transformation at the Edgmon Ranch was by far my favorite, and I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish with our budget. While it’s nice to dream about $50,000 bathroom overhauls – ours was not that.
Bathrooms are typically one of the most expensive home improvement projects, but we were able to keep several items original to the house. After all, our main priority was resale value, and certain home improvement projects just don’t have as good of an ROI as others. If we were to remodel this house for ourselves, I’d probably push for a complete gut job. But because this was an investment property, we had to keep ROI at the forefront of every decision.
Without further ado, below is our bathroom remodel cost breakdown.

I think you’ll agree that $5,000 is an amazing price for the quality, aesthetic and the amount of materials that went into this space. Once I tallied up all the costs, I was honestly blown away by how much we were able to accomplish with only $5,000. The average bathroom remodel cost is $10,000-$25,000!
Of course, some of the installation, plumbing, electrical, etc. we were able to do ourselves – and when I say “ourselves” I mean my dad. Forever grateful to him for all of his help! But if you’re hiring out all labor then your budget will look significantly different. On average, labor costs account for about a third of your total renovation budget, if not more.
Also, the beautiful vanity mirrors were sponsored by Howard Elliott (you can read all about that collaboration here), and we bought the vanity when Lowe’s was having a major promotion. So realistically speaking, we probably came in closer to $4,000.
