The End of an Era: We Are Selling Our House

Well, it’s the end of an era: We are selling our house.

So many of you began reading FOXYOXIE.com right around the time we first bought our bungalow. But if you’re new, here’s a quick review: In July of 2015 the husband and I came across a beautiful investment property in a prime location and thought, “Why not?”

The property included nearly seven acres of wooded land and a dilapidated, abandoned bungalow.

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed (ha!), but every January people lose their minds over ORGANIZING. ALL. THE. THINGS.

Side note: This year in particular, the Marie Kondo phenomenon took that craze to a whole other level. Seriously, if I see yet another reference to KonMari method, I may lose it.

But I digress.

Fall 2017 One Room Challenge, Week 7: The Reveal

It never fails. At the conclusion of every ORC season I state that the forces of the universe are clearly conspiring against me – or at the very least against me joining the ORC ever again.

It’s insane enough that I decided to join this round with a three-month baby. Add to that:

Being notified that my maternity leave ends a week earlier than I originally thought (my first day back at work is actually today),
A baby who up to this point has been happy-go-lucky but suddenly turned into a stage-5 clinger, and
A malfunctioning camera the day before this post was to go live and I had yet to photograph the rooms.

Five seconds into scrolling through my blog or Instagram account, it becomes very obvious that our entire house is shades of black, white and gold. For as long as I can remember, the mere thought of incorporating color into our neutral home paralyzed me with total fear.

Case in point: Once upon a time I attempted to venture out of my colorless comfort zone.

Typically, by this point in the challenge I am curled up in the fetal position from anxiety over everything that has yet to be finished (or, let’s be honest, started). However, this week we received notification that the ORC has been extended by an additional week, so let’s all breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Well, the gods of baby naps have heard my pleas; this week, Mila took at least one 3-hour nap nearly every day. As a result, I’ve been able to finally cross off one ORC project: the entryway accent wall.

I posted a sneak peek in my Insta stories yesterday and already have received lots of questions. So today I photoshopped a tutorial on how you can recreate the project in your own home.

As is to be expected with a newborn, very little progress was made on the One Room Challenge this week. And yet, in a strange turn of events, I am proud of myself for the mere attempt. After all, taking care of a newborn is a 24/7 job, so something as simple as gathering supplies at Michael’s (with a newborn in tow) for a DIY project warrants a standing ovation, if you ask me.

Master Bedroom Updates + Question for the Audience

One of the 11 projects on our to-do list for 2017 was to finish our master bedroom.

With our little one (hopefully) arriving any day now, I suddenly realized it would’ve been a good idea to finish the master bedroom BEFORE the baby made her debut. After all, it’s so important to have a finished, relaxing space for the adults to retreat to at the end of a long day (or night).
