In the spirit of drawing conclusions and making resolutions and all that end-of-the-year jazz, I’m taking one last look at 2021 to share our biggest home improvement projects!
Every January I like to share a list of our project plans for the year ahead. Then, every December, I review the list and share the results with you all. Our to-do list for 2021 was hilariously massive. I remember laughing while writing it, because there was no way we could finish 20 projects in one year.
Spoiler alert: We finished even more – except not necessarily the ones from our list, ha!
Most of our finished projects have not made it to the blog yet, but perhaps that’s the reason we were able to finish so much – because we focused on doing rather than documenting. Most people have no idea just how consuming documenting a project is… The planning, arranging for sponsorships, sourcing, renovating, styling, photographing, editing, all the while sharing on social media and writing blog posts and responding to a million questions is the equivalent of five full-time jobs.
Coincidentally, 2021 was also the year we spent the most time together as a family, took the most vacations, hosted the most dinners and play dates and gatherings in general, and overall found a really good life-work balance – which is, perhaps, our biggest accomplishment, one that cannot be neatly wrapped into a before-and-after comparison.
Maybe one day I’ll share the major life event that forced us to re-evaluate our entire life in 2021, but right now I’m not quite ready to open up about it. Suffice it to say that 2021 was monumental for us, and I am forever grateful to God for the mercy He’s shown us.
Back to design, let’s look at the home improvement projects we were able to finish in 2021. I’ll start sharing full reveals with all the details in January, so be sure you’re subscribed to the FOXY OXIE newsletter to be the first notified! Then, be sure to come back in January for our 2022 plans. Spoiler alert: There will be lots of fun surprises!
Let’s dive right in, shall we?
1. Powder Room
2. Kids’ Bathroom
3. Master Bathroom
4. Kitchen
5. Breakfast Nook
6. Dining Room
7. Living Room
8. Girls’ Shared Room + Playroom
9. Entryway
10. Staircase
11. Master Bedroom
You may be thinking, “You said 20, but there are only 11 listed here…”
Projects that we started but haven’t fully completed include the garage, outdoor living space, landscaping, guest bedrooms 1 and 2, office, laundry closet, and the master closet. All of these spaces have been updated and are fully functional – just not what I’d call blog-worthy, ha! Maybe one of these days I’ll get around to that.
Another item on our list was to purchase and begin renovating another investment property. I’ll share more about that in January’s post, when I go over all our plans for 2022, but suffice it to say that “investment” turned into “investments” – and I have no idea how we’re currently juggling multiple properties, but it’s happening, and it’s exciting.
So, which transformation from 2021 was your favorite? Which reveal are you most excited to see in 2022?
Tune in to FOXYOXIE.com and subscribe to the newsletter, as I start sharing full reveals of all these spaces in 2022!
